Lift Kits Made Easy
Well, in the past couple of days I have seen countless threads on "What do I need to lift my Jeep," "How can I gain two more inches of lift," etc. etc.
So, I put together a list of whats needed at certain sizes of lits, and companies of where to purchase these items from. I'm hoping to get this made a sticky/FAQ so I want to make sure I'm not missing anything in here.
Any input you guys have is great, here's what I got so far:
Parts needed to accomplish desired amount of lift.
3"
Recommended
-Full Leaf Packs
-3" Coil Springs
-Shocks
-Lower Control Arms
-Relocate Brake Lines
Other Ways
-Bastard pack leaf springs
-Lift shackles
-Lift blocks
-Coil spacers
-Add-a-leaf rear
Anything over 3" (Note: all these parts may not be necessary for YOUR application)
Recommended
-Full pack leaf springs w/ lift shackles
-New brake lines front and rear
-Longer shocks front and rear
-Full coil springs up front
-Lower and Upper control arms
-Adjustable track bar w/ track bar drop bracket
-Slip Yoke Eliminator/Transfer Case drop
-Lower control arm drop brackets or Long arms
-Sway bar disconnects
Other Ways
-Bastard pack rear w/ shackles or lift blocks
-3" or so coil spring front w/ coil spacers
-Transfer case drop
-Lower control arms
Going from basic lift to higher lift
-If you have a 2 or 3 inch spacer and shackle/add a leaf setup, your best bet is to ditch these and start fresh with the list mentioned above.
-If you have full coils/leaf packs there are numerous ways to accomplish more lift
-Coil spacers for the front
-Blocks/lift shackles/add-a-leaf for the rear
-You will also need to address front end components, as well as steering components and transfer case issues when you start getting this high. Again, refer to the list above.
