Default Lets talk insurance

I really don't know anything when it comes to my insurance. Except that I pay for collision. What insurances do u have. Who do u like and dislike. How can I get the best policy for the least amount. I am really only looking for a basic insurance for cheap.

Where you live, your age, and which vehicle you are insuring has a lot to do with insurance premiums...

I use AMEX assurance company (through Costco) for my autos and Progressive for my motorcycles.

If your looking for the least expensive...you just need to get quotes from all the major companies and compare them.

Insurance, and insurance laws vary from state to state. If you lease, or have a lien the bank is requires you to have collision+comprehensive coverage for the duration of the contract. In NJ the longer you stay with a company the better the discounts, paying on time, and the usual good driver stuff as well. Been with Allstate for a long time, no tickets, and no accidents so I am rated top tier.

I use to sell insurance in 40 states, Things do change from time to time but here are basic coverages

This is the basic most states require and state minimum varies
BI (Bodily Injury) I always recommend having min 50/100
PD (Property Damage) minimum 100k (usually this coverage is cheap)

these are usually optional based on the state.

Med Pay (this covers you and your passengers if you are at fault) usually 5k or 10k is offered.
UMBI and PD (un insured under insured BI and PD) this is also a cheap coverage to have.

most people do deductibles of $500 col $250 comp
Collision (covers your vehicle lets say for example you are responsible)
Comprehensive (anything other than collision)

other than that some companies offer modified vehicle coverage usually up to 5k.

then you have rental car and towing and some random coverages.

There is standard insurance companies and then you have nonstandard (also called indemnity)

non standard usually cost more money and you get less coverage - usually you get this if you are getting insurance for the first time or you have dui's or a ton of tickets ect...

If you have a specific question, let me know i'll try to answer..

im 16, I have GMAC, and pay 59 a month for liability only. Now its probably that cheap becuase my parents pay for two other cars but for them a jetta and a bmw 330 its only 120 for them.
I wonder if it will make a difference when i get a 4x4 jeep

I meant to say i have liability. not collision. I have 2 vehicles a s10 and a jeep the s10 I pay 235 and the jeep I pay 265 for 6 months. So it is about 45 a month for my jeep. and 40 for my s10.

I have 2 million liability, provincial requirement is 1 million, and I have one way meaning I cover the other guy and thats it. Why? Because as it is insurance companies deny us like crazy here for ANY sort of mod. If you so much as say you're running 235/75R15s instead of 225/65R15s you're denied. Or if you're lucky your premiums double.

I was paying 350$ per month with no tickets or accidents at fault or not for my 97 XJ, my brand new 2010 Focus SE I paid 280$... Makes sense eh? 24k vs 1k vehicle. I'm 24 by the way
