Leaf spring w/ dana 44 or get grand cherokee and build that
So i got a nice set of dana 44s. Now i was thinking about going to front leaf spring because i use it in the woods more the street and want to save some money. i have most of the things to go leaf so it maybe my best beat. So thing is with coils i need to get a 44 tuss and thats like 800 bucks. but i could sell my front lift i have on my jeep now and it will pay for the leaf swap.
The front is a grand wagoneer dana 44 and have two rears an 9.25 12bolt durango and a grand wagoneer dana 44.
Dana 44: 6 lug
Ring Gear Diameter: 8.50"
Axle Shaft Diameter & Spline Count: 1.31" / 30
Pinion Shaft Diameter: 1.375"
Chrysler 9.25: 6 lug
Ring Gear Diameter: 9.25"
Axle Shaft Diameter & Spline Count: 1.32 / 31
Pinion Shaft Diameter: 1.875"
i think the 9.25 will work the best in the rear
So let me know what you think. Or should i just get this 98 grand cherokee limited down the street for 500 bucks. and leave my jeep the way it is and build the grand cherokee into a wagoneer

With the fab work involved, I do not know that it will be any easier to swap to leafs than to stick to coils, but one great thing about them is the simplicity. It gets rid of a lot of geometry considerations

I like full leafs all around, i say get your XJ leafed up. Now my favorite vehicle is the Internaional Harvester Scout II so i always liked leafs. I know the benifits and drawbacks but i still like leaft cause im mostly woods too

if your into wheeling building a set of radius arms and setting them up is not hard. going to leafs in an XJ is because we lack a frame so you need to spend as much time to plart and build spring hangers that can support the weight.

I don't suggest converting the front to leaves.
Coil buckets, ca mounts, and track bar mounts can be picked up cheap.
Check ballistic fab, and poly performance, and others. A truss is not needed

Fabbing is easy to me. I think i will keep my xj the way i is because it works and is too nice to cut up an smash.
I want something to kill in the woods like my old eagle. as u can see my xj is in the back so i dont want to kill something i had for years. I wish i had some action shots but they where lost.
I can have the grand for 300 so i will go with that.
Like i said it isnt hard. my friends librety with 35" muds put together with in 3 to 4 days

First off, a D44 truss will not cost you $800.00. If you are buying a built one, like from Treks, you should come up to about half that when all is told. If you are good with a welder and can build it yourself, it should be even less. But if you are liking leafs, it will be a lot cheaper to do it on an XJ than the Grand, IMO. With the XJ you only have to worry about making one end accept leafs.
