gonna piggyback in this thread...just picked up an 01 sport and my remote keyless kinda only works when it wants...sometimes it works from 100ft away, sometimes from 6ft...sometimes I gotta use my key...had AutoZone check the battery, and it checked out okay...

They don't have a very good range, the keyless entry (for 97+) unit is located in the over head light, its built into the circuit panel. Does ur over head lights work properly?

My 96 sport has keyless entry and doesn't have good range, I found by just pointing it in the window as you walk up to your car. Mine spotted working due to the soldier connections on the actual button part thats inside. I took mine to a computer store and the resoldiered it for five bucks. Works great now.

Are you sure the batteries you installed are good or correct position ( + & -)?

Autozone and advance have keyless entry battery testers right on the counter. That'd be my first step in troubleshooting.
