Already have both, but thanks for the suggestion.

In fact, Jeep originally was only going to do a 2 door, but Chevy's introduction is why the 4 door was added. That is why they are so tight (short) for a four door. They didn't have time to re-engineer a longer chassis/body (like GM did for the four door).
The Blazer debuted first, but the XJ was designed back in '78. It was delayed so they could design a 4dr model to beat the Blazer by way of options after GM announced their 2dr. And I'm not sure of this, but wasn't the S10 Blazer still body on frame?

Jeep is dieing out, the only thing left is the wrangler and that is very slowly becoming junk too.

Then I don't see the need for an expensive vehicle with poor road handling (compared to modern coupes and sedans) and something that is too expensive for me to want to throw into a rock pile. I have no "Cherokee allegiance" past I own one, but I can never understand putting a fresh new vehicle through its paces offroad.

If you're fine with denting up a 35k truck, go for it! Someone's gotta bash the **** out of it, right? For that kind of cash, I'd just rather race motocross.

fire it up

Maybe I'm just reading this wrong but your post feels like a summarization of what YOU want or need.

Yup frame, with complicated (compared to a straight axle) IFS, and until the Vortec 4.3, terribletastic engines (4.3 isn't that great either), and less ground clearance than the XJ.

Yes, it was body on frame still. So if you go by "unibody" definition, then yes, you would be correct, it was first. In that regard the XJ was quite a bit ahead of its time. Granted that unibody was mostly just the body welded directly to the frame, not the complex panels and pieces found in modern times (with crumple zones and the like.

Hey we made a break through!! Lol but in all honesty we have shown there were better options for the money, heck even a cheap xj can become crazy awesome with 30k put into it, so why did you choose the kl? We've shown there are more pros on an xj, jk, etc... Than the kl. so why?

Not dying out, simply the progression of time. Get use to it. Hell, before long you won't even drive your own car on the highway. It is PROGRESS.

Also I don't think the S-10 Blazer was ever intended to be a real off road rig like the K5 it (sorta) replaced

I didn't say the design from '78 was the be-all end-all of automotive design. I said it was revolutionary. There are reasons why it received so many awards back then and ranks highly on many modern lists.

If you want to get to like minded people, try:

http://jeepcherokeeclub.com/

A better site probably than this one. Just a bunch of whiners here (well, there are some good folks here, but obviously a lot of whiners too).
