Just traded up to a 14
personally, i dislike the new cherokee alot. i dont think it deserves to be called a cherokee. someones gatta do a solid axle swap, lift it atleast 2.5-3 inches and throw some muddies on. id love to see that, and then ill call it a cherokee. maybe.
2 solid axles. Transmission. Transfer case. Drive shafts. Steering box. Front suspension. Rear suspension. Reposition motor. Electronics. And probably a new steering column since its electric steering. Wish anyone who wants to tackle it luck.

Thinking about aftermarket, you could look at a Honda CRV for possible parts. Pretty much the same set up as the new Cherokee in its AWD form, and from what I have seen a higher profile. Could be the start of a budget boost?

New "Cherokee" Bah humbug.
I heard the advertisement on the tv while my face was suck in the iPad. Google it and was sadly disappointed. I thought it looked like a BMW crossover kinda thing. Only thing I liked about it was that it was a 4x4 ( in jeeps line up ) but can't nock the guy around for calling ( those who don't buy one ) others broke, cheap, or what not. Y'all should be bagging' on him for trading in the XJ.
That's what wrong with the picture???? This rich guy should have thrown down a bigger down payment to meet a monthly payment he could afford, and kept his XJ

Disrespectful? Calling the newest member of the Jeep family a Cherokee is disrespecting our beloved XJ's. Let's see just how capable the kl is. Let's see that motor and tranny hit 400,000 miles. I doubt that a 2014 KL will still be on the road in 22 years (my current XJ is a '91). The KL is NOT a Cherokee. It doesn't look like it, it's not built even along the same lines as a Cherokee. It doesn't have a transfer case and it doesn't have solid axles. You're going to have to get a college degree in computers, electronics and automotive technology to be able to work on anything more than the basic things (or go to a dealer, which is their master plan to make more money).
It is fine to not like the new Cherokee. Most of the people on this forum are probably not the target customer they are marketing towards. The problem I have with all the complaints is whining about new technology and not being able to work on it. This can be said about almost any new vehicle.

I wouldn't count on fender flares. They didn't make any for the Grand Cherokee from 2005 to 2010. Now you got to prove (or disprove if I'm completely wrong) and build it up. If parts don't exist...make them!

The KL will not be extremely off road worthy without shoveling boatloads of cash at it, which makes little sense since an XJ can be made to tackle most anything with only small wheelbarrows full of cash being shoveled at it.
