There was a bad shoe retainer spring i missed some how, made the shoes not fit in the hole right. so next question, would there be an advantage to switching to the disc brakes from either a zj or a crown vic For the rear brakes. I read up and no one seemed to answer it it WAS a good idea, and if so then why. so then, is it?

So are they less costly to maintain? Because i know thay would probly be easier to change. i know ive changed a full set of disc brakes in the time it took me to do one drum. Thats what i see in it. Practicality.

I used to have a clinometer, but it annoyed me and got the boot. Totally unnecessary but it was fun to put a number to slopes. One thing I liked was the one I had actually gave percentage rather than degrees.
Drums have less braking force then disc so they do last a lot longer then disc brakes do.Yeah drums take longer to do if your not use to them but they are cheaper in the long if you check the shoes every time you do the front brakes.Only bad things i can say about drums they suck when they get wet and if you have a wheel cylinder leak or axle seal leak the fluids soak in the shoes and you have to replace the shoes.

Andrew, your argument gets weaker and weaker with each post you make supporting drums....LOL.
I did look up some prices on rockauto zj disc vs xj drums the zj rotors and pads was a few bucks cheaper then xj drums and shoes.Cruiser you may be right on a jeep because of the light weight.I'm use to full size pickups where the rear disc don't last long at all.

Came outta work yesterday and noticed a heavy gas odor. Smelled alot of peoples cars. Realized it was mine....
and it also shifts odd. First second and third are all fine. Then it hits fourth and bogs a ton. Almost feels like its going into fifth. Theres a strange grind that comes from the front when i give any sort of stiff gass on take off (asphalt) and the end caps for my bumper fell off... idek how...
