So I was wondering if a Grand Cherokee had more interior space than a Cherokee? I am a proud owner of a 99 XJ, just thinkin about future builds cause one is never enough!!

The WJ grand cherokee is a bit wider, taller, longer and heavier than the XJ. The axles have a slightly wider track width. Cargo area is bigger, spare tire is hidden under floor.
The ZJ also has more space than the XJ.
Dimensions are listed in links.

Myself I didn't like the wj with the 4.0. The extra weight is noticeable with the 4.0. The 4.7 is nice power wise but it kinds sucks that they were only fitted with full time awd when optioned with the v8.

That's quite possible.
Other things to consider with the wj,
02-04 had the 4.7 ho with 30 more hp and 30 more ftlb.
Quadra drive option is probably the best combo for snowy roads.
The ZJ isn't too bad either. Gas mileage in the 5.2 versions weren't as good as the 4.7 WJ though. Still a little roomier than the XJ.
Also both have 4 wheel disc brakes and rear coils which is a treat. I would own one of each if I could. I'd go for a 2004 WJ, 98 ZJ 5.9 and 99 XJ.

I had a 5.2 ZJ. Just slightly larger internally, back seat occupants definitely had a little more comfort than on an XJ. My main complaint is that the rear cargo area was very small vertically (and of course the internal spare also compromised the width, but could be removed). Which really hurt its ability to be a good hauler for trips to lowes and home depot, etc. They addressed that issue in later models, but in that first model it was particularly bad.
