Default Jeep Wrangler, no solid axles for 2016

http://www.autofoundry.com/1842/2016...id-axle-rumor/

Expect used Wranglers with solid axles to retain good resale value if this happens.

Won't matter most new ones are mall crawlers anyways.Every 4x4 gm made since 88 has had ifs even a 1 ton.Ford the f150 has had a forum of ifs since 1980.I think dodge is the only 1/2 ton truck that still has a solid axle in the front of it.

No, dodge went ifs in '02 for the half ton models. Like Ford there 3/4 and one ton models still have a solid front axle.

me too..i already have 8 vehicles so wifey says NO for something that is not going to be driven enough...she keeps reminding me that my 03 dually only has 42k miles on it and i will quote "why the heck do you NEED another truk when you have a perfectly good one that is paid off"...she just doesnt get it ...oh well when i win the lottery

.instead of dumping the solid axle put a diesel in the wrangler and the fuel mileage will go up..IFS is not conducive for a true hard core off roader which is what the Jeep brand is known for...their sales will fail miserably....on a high note Xjs and wranglers will become valued like old Broncos...

Yes, but expect a lot of major vehicle overhauls in model year 2016 to meet the new fleet mpg requirements.

**** IFS/IRS. Put a god damn diesel in it already, problem solved, and they'll make WAY more sales.

i disagree.

I see more soccer moms and middle aged ppl with no intention of off-roading a jeep in the wranglers now than ever before. sales won't fail. prob less than 5% of sales go to ppl with true offroad intentions.

Stronger, better articulation, simpler, easier to lift and build, lots of reasons.

The sheer size of the JK offroading community will tell you that is incorrect.
