I have a 96 jeep grand cherokee limited 4.0 . DMV would not give me a quote over the phone so I was just curious If anyone had the same and could tell me how much the registration would cost me. I live In Manchester N.H. I've gone to DMV websites not helpful, much like In person. Thank You Cathy

Im sure your state is the same as TN, whatever you say you paid for the Jeep they add a certain amount of tax to that, then registration cost, which here is 21 bucks i think. I fool with and deal with only older vehicles so im never questioned, i never say i gave anymore then 100 bucks for a vehicle when i get tags for it. I just registered my '93 XJ, cost me $45.50.

Some states Like mine (CT) tax you on the book value of the vehicle and not on the sale price listed on the bill of sale. I recently registered a 99 saturn and after all the taxes and little nickel and dime fees it was about 200 bucks.

Ive had heard some states were like that but wasnt sure inwhich that is ridiculous. Just another way for the government to make money off of us. I live in a small town so they could care less at the clerks office, too ive probably owned and taged 25 diffrent vehicles over the past 10 years so they are used to seeing me lol.Originally Posted by G_P
