Jeep laredo nostart help
hi
i have been looking for a good offroad vehicle for a while
and came into posession of a jeep laredo
its in decent condition for being a couple decades old
the person i got it from was able to start it a year ago
however i am not able to start it, it wants to go but something periodically stops it
as it cycles through cylinders once in a while(every couple seconds or so) it sounds like a cylinder fires which stops the cranks rotation
the starter bogs to almost a stop
i feel it is pre-igniting before top dead center
i feel this because i removed the main ignition wire and the problem went away , so i dont think its mechanically damaged
this car has a distributor, do you think it might be stuck in an advanced timing position? any help will be greatly appreciated

Could check to see if the plug wires are in the correct firing order on the cap and plugs.

things like year, engine, and such would help and a cylinder firing would not stop the rotation of the crank if the combustion event is not strong enough it will not start...
also this belongs in cherokee tech or grand cherokee tech not cherokee chat
