I am having a little trouble installing some speakers in my front doors. I bought these: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_107DXI5...io-DXi521.html they wire up and sound great but my door panel fits right up against them and not all the fastners connect all the way. The speakers come with "covers" but how do you install them? Do you have to cut the speaker part of the panel out so the speaker shows through and then attach it? I had to replace the speakers bc the last ones were blown/rattling. I'm wondering if it was bc the door panel pressed right up against the "object" in the middle of the speaker...i don't want to ruin these speakers.
I'll be putting in new roof speakers too since those are blown.

Yeah I have the same problem with 5.25 inch speakers. I've tried a set from Sony and a set from Kicker and they all do this.
So I guess you're supposed to drill new holes or something.
I'm still running my factory speakers because I don't really feel like drilling.

You do not need to put the covers (grills) on.
Recenter the speakers and drill new mounting screw holes, and it should be fine.

I'm not near my jeep now (google pic) but wouldn't turning the speaker left/right and drilling new holes on the same frame on the door leave it sticking out as far?

If the door panel does not want to come flush down to the door:
A-just sand down the back of the door panel grill
B-actually cut the grill out of the door panel"probably not necessary)
C-it's probably not noticeable, don't worry about it
