Installing 4inch lift?
i was planning on installing an Iron Rock Offroad lift and I was wondering if I'd be able to do it myself? instead of taking it to a shop. how difficult is it? any special tools i need?

Simple hand tools, some mechanical ability, and common sence are all that is needed. If you can bake a cake, you can install a lift, just follow the directions to a T.

i think it is only shackles and add a leaf. To the op, get a spring compressor kit. I think that autozone only charges you a deposit and returns you the full amount when you return it.

yeah my RC 4.5 add-a-leaf cost me $450 including shipping, thats a good deal man. as far as installing it i would say definately do it yourself, you'll feel alot better after you go through it and get to know your jeep better. if theres any way you can get your hands on a torqued drill do it it'll save your hours of wrenching and dont bother without a blowtorch it really helps loosen the bolts

there's nothing mechanically hard about doing a short arm lift kit. the hardest part is the rust and seized bolts.
your best friends are spring compressor, PB blaster propane torch and an impact wrench.
most probably you will break both upper Rear shock mount bolts.
the leaf spring front eye bolts were a bit of a pain. mine came off with an impact, in my buddy's case we had to do some cutting and welding. i think the nut is tacked to the frame.
combined in this forum, we have over a 100 years of experience doing this lift kit
so, just keep the internet handy and buy some elbow grease
and spray all of the bolts down the night before.

i would start spraying now!! lol i waited til 3 days b4 and it did not help those shock mounts. Try hittin them from above in the space behind them on the bottom of the floor. Also plan now to find replacement bolts just in case. Good luck, have fun and be patient lol.
