input on gauges
I would just swap the whole cluster, but I want to keep track of original miles.
possible to swap the whole cluster and switch the odo's?
how difficult is the wiring on the tach/ other gauge swapping?
if this is not possible, how difficult is the install on aftermarket tach/pressure/temp
other options?
lame. hate this cluster

I did the swap in my 99. Could not save the odo so I gain 100k miles. But now I have all my gauges so I live with it. I did hear of a place you could send your cluster to and they would re-program the IC for $150. Not worth it to me, though.

Easy swap, I actually just finished mine on my 96 last week. Like mentioned above you will need a new oil pressure sensor for gauges and a new coolant temp SENDER. If you go to the auto parts store and ask for the part they will probably give you a coolant temp SENSOR which goes near the front of the engine and is used for the ECU and whatnot. I just ordered the part from teamcherokee.com
Coolant Temperature Sending Unit Switch OEM Cherokee & Comanche 1992-1996 - OE COOLANT TEMP SENDER SWITCH#56027012
Also just snagged my gauges from a pull-n-pay for like $25. New odometer had 66,800+ miles than the old one but I just took pictures of both to keep with the records

A few weeks ago i installed some gauge faces on mine. To install them i had to remove each individual gauge from the cluster. I saw no reason you couldn't just swap your original speedometer into the "new" cluster as its just four(?) screws holding it in. Its really very easy once you get a look at it, and the odometer is built into the speedometer.
Make sure to get a cluster from a '91-'96' xj.
