Default I'm sad to see my Jeep Cherokee go.

I had a 25 year jeep Cherokee Laredo. It worked fine except the neutral starting switch needed replacing & it overheated in Phoenix's summers. It was hard to give to parents who needed a car after we got a new car. Learn from me. KEEP YOUR JEEP!

I'm on my 2nd XJ, had a TJ, XJ, ZJ, & WJ, back to an XJ. Think I'll always have an older Jeep in the driveway. They really are great vehicles to drive & wheel, once I sell a jeep I want to buy another. Not to sure what my options will be down the road (15-20 years from now), possibly a 4 wheel independent suspension wrangler (god I hope not).

To OP, keep your chin up & buy another XJ, they're cheap.

At the rate Fiat/Chrysler is going by then the Wrangler will be 4-wheel independent suspension on a compact Fiat platform with 3" of ground clearance, a tiny underpowered 4-cyl (or maybe even 3-cyl), with a half-a**ed computer controlled AWD systems, electronics everywhere, and completely proprietary parts that don't allow for any upgrades/modifications.

LOL, I think in JP magazine (or somewhere) I read that the solid axle Wrangler will be on its' way our in a couple of years because of mpg/weight issues......

Lots of talk has been happening about the 2016 Wrangler going IFS to save weight. Unfortunately the vast majority of people who own Jeeps never leave the pavement other than the occasional gravel or dirt road. IFS has better road manners than a solid axle set up. If the market majority demands it they'll cater to that majority. It's business 101. Give the people what they want and you get to sell lots of your product and make money.

^ True, look at the new Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Toyota scrapped the solid front axle in their pickups a long time ago, same with Chevy & Ford.

x2, last bit of hope for us jeepers/wheelers for the future.

******* "Chrysler Corp. If you're listening, Keep solid Axles under the Wranglers, save weight by going back to bone stock interiors, loose the GPS, cup holders, carpets, ABS brakes & stick with soft tops!" ******

Sorry OP, we (I) went on skittle rant, let's get back on track. Any other sad stories or thoughts on gettin rid of our beloved Jeeps/XJ's?

As a Wrangler guy, I see the value of my JK going up if Fiat screws the pooch and sticks an IFS in the new model. I wouldn't be surprised.
