Default I'm baaaack!

Well after a hiatus, I am back! Life gets in the way, work and home and projects and I have not been around much. Sadly I have sold my XJ, the rust belt Midwest was hard on her, electrical gremlins many and though I loved her a lot I had to let her go. Was on the lookout for another XJ but I wanted something I could tow with so, while I did stay in the Jeep family, I am no longer in an XJ. Found a super clean 2005 Hemi Grand Cherokee Limited with a mere 56,000 on the clock for a price I could not resist. The part that sealed the deal on this one is it spent all it's life in the South which means no rot, just surface rust on axles and suspension parts. After a good dousing of Fluid Film, the under body looks like the day it rolled off the showroom floor.

It is amazing how Fluid Film seem to "condition" metal. The backing plates and steering knuckles on my front axle in my XJ was a little rust red. Figured I would clean up a little under there with some POR 15 at some point. Winter rolled around and it was the first year I used Fluid Film. When I power washed off all the Fluid Film the following April I noticed that now they were more a mud brown. I was OK with that and let them be.

No not like that. Use the word "condition" loosely. Now realize my front end was not rusty. It just had that rust red "tint" to it. After the Fluid Film was on there for about 6 months. over the winter, after washing it off was more mud brown. And that was good enough for me. Let me put it this way. I went out and pretty much bought a compressor so I could buy the Fluid Film gun kit and Use Fluid Film to protect my Jeep. That is how impressed I am with this stuff. Also I live where they put that crap on the roads. Don't get me wrong I bought air tools, for the 3 times a year I might need them (LOL) but it was being able to Fluid Film that made me pull the trigger on a compressor.

I find all that plastic hiding the engine interesting. "Psychologically" it screams " Don't even think about working on this yourself! Take it to the dealer!"

They are all using this psychological "can't even see the engine on this" deterrent now...

Yeah. That is a good word to use. Permeate. I like that. I am stealing that word to use in the future when I tell people about this. LOL.

I'm sure it also left a layer of protection from this too.

At that is another thing about Fluid Film. I go to town. 1/2 gallon at a whack. In the winter I use the $5 automatic car wash bay. Never pay the extra $1 for the underside. Every piece of crap, road grit, sand, etc sticks to that stuff. In April I power wash it off. That is because I am still doing things under there. Working under the Jeep with Fluid Film applied is a mess. When I am done, LOL, I think I will Fluid Film in April for the whole year. Even after giving her a good power washing I see places I kinda missed. Way up high under the Jeep that are probably from the very first time I Fluid Filmed. LOL.

Nothing wrong with that, if it's not where you will be working let it build up! Leave it and add another layer! lol
