Quote: Something tells me Advance Auto doesn't know more about XJs than the collective experiences and knowledge available on this forum.
Advanced knows squat. I have gone there several times trying to get a part that AutoZone didnt have in stock and all three times they tried to sell me the wrong part. They kept insisting I had a grand cherokee. I was like heck no its a regular cherokee. They have told me all kinds of crap like that. AutoZone however knows their stuff at least down here.

I have terrible luck with both. They always try and give me the wrong parts and they know absolutely nothing about cars. Its sad. If the computer cant tell them what is wrong then your screwed. Haha. I am glad to hear that some people have luck with them. It must just be my area.

I argued with a guy the other day about his cherokee not having cv boots. I said the garage must be trying to sell you bogus work. finally I looked at it and it had a solid axle with cv shafts. (abs)
also, my experience with the part stores are horible, every 16 year old in his first automotive job thinks he knows more than everyone.
I went to advanced the other day for a header collector. He said hehad to look it up by application, I asked him to get out a book, hooker, heddman, dynomax etc. and I would fnid them, he said ithad to be application so I told him they fit a 69 ford pinto with a 460. Drives me crazy

i have lately resulted to complaints only. if you can prove that you know more than them about a certain vehicle, they WILL accept your suggestion or at least investigate it. advavnce is loosing a lot of business and popularity because of their lack of knowledge and they are starting to realize that.

I gave up on Autozone and Advance a long time ago. Try getting a bastard u-joint, I said 1310 one side and 1350 on the other and they asked what year vehicle. Made me want to get them to look up a radiator cap for a 69 Beetle, sad thing is they prob would. I get most of my junk from NAPA because they are a bunch of good ole boys that run the one close to me and most have 4Xs. Most of the time they don't even look it up just know the part number.
