Idle control
I have an 87 Cherokee Sport that goes instantly to "red line" in rpms when I start up. If I aggressively tap the accelerator it will drop to 1000 rpm, but when I try to accelerate in gear the engine again goes past "red line" and I need to shut down. I'm not a great mechanic, so if anyone can tell me what I need to do to correct this problem, I'd be appreciative.
