Default Ideas for a to do list?

Hey guys!

Looking through some of the archives I see some people buy it and drive it, while others go through and change plugs, wires, etc right after the purchase.

Any advice on this, with my new purchase I have no vehicle history so it's a shot in the dark. I'm tempted to just go through it to be safe. Anybody have a list of items that would be a good idea to replace/look at? I'm not real concerned about the money, I just want to do the right thing.

Thanks everybody!

Mike

When i got my XJ, i drove it around for a while just to get a "feel" for it, ya know?

After i decided that it didn't have any issues, just a few annoyances, i dealt with them accordingly.

Then i did the simple maintenance items suggested above. Mainly, fluids and filters, and a minor tune-up. I also decided to carry a 'spare' Serpentine Belt as well!

IMHO- There's really no need to "go through it", just drive it and love it!

As far as fragrance......vanillaroma, LOL

Thanks for the tips, I'm gonna go through the fluids and the brakes first then see how it goes.

I have a matchbox cherokee taped to my dash. My friend put it there with some gorilla tape, shes surprised to find that it hasn't moved yet.

There was a guy at one of the shops I used to work for, his middle name is Marvin, he hates it. I stopped by to say hi, and the guys in the back were making stickers that said "vote for marvin" and one of them put it on the dash in the jeep, I left it there as long as it stuck, my buddy hated it, but it was in good fun

I just picked up an XJ myself and some basic stuff I want to do are as follows:

Replace hoses, belt, water pump, t-stat, coolant, oil, diff fluids, tcase fluid, plugs, and air/oil filters.

Thinking about adding an air freshener for extra HP.
