I need some help asap. I found a totalled 2000 4x4 XJ with ~50k. I don't know anything about it except he told me he would prefer to keep the motor. How much should I offer him? I know it's got the LP dana 30 but this seems like an opportunity I shouldn't pass up if I can get everything I need for a 4wd conversion for cheap. Thank you!

unfortunately I don't have any pictures.. yet. I offered $350 and he's now asking for $750 without the motor and transmission. No chance.

 

No engine or transmission? Walk away from it.

 

No way. You can find a running one for that much.

 

I would for sure have to side with the group on this one walk away not even close to worth it if he is keeping motor and tranny you can find a better deal out there don't get in a rush and buy something and screw yourself over on the deal

ok 200 for each axle that is basically what you are getting... so say 400 maybe...
front axle -200
rear axle- -200
transfer case-50
front drive shalf-25
rear driveshaft -25
that looks like a good price list to me...
so 500 all together...

 

theres no way a lp dana 30 or 8.25 are worth $200. but I did offer him $400 and still no go.

he's also figuring in the price of the windshield, wheels, scrap metal, etc

That is scrap price if that. Figure what you get per ton and offer that. offer the same in a week and see if he takes it.
