that is a nice looking gc but lol. buying an ex-rental car is like dating a chick with a bi-racial child. even though you weren't there...you know what happened.
You ever say something, and then think "that probably wasn't a good idea"? Yea, me too.
OP, enjoy your new toy. I bought a used 2007 Expedition in 2008 with 20,000 miles. When I went to the BMV, I found out the previous owner was Enterprise rent a car. I initially wasn't too happy, but it ended up being one of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I kept it for six years before trading in on an F150.
So much to like in those pics! I like your garage door, very classy. Nice neighborhood too. Is that an MG across the street? Oh yeah, nice WJ.
Thanks! The company I work for actually makes those garage doors in-house. We are one of the largest distributors of fireplaces and garage doors in the country, and those cedar doors, our IronWood series, are hand-assembled and a popular option for some of the area home builders that we sell to.
It's a nice neighborhood. We moved here 2 1/2 years ago from a house I had lived in for 13 years prior. The Texas real estate market is healthy, but also a lot cheaper than in many places in the country. So we got a 2100 square foot 3-2-2 in a neighborhood with winding streets, a creek, and lots of mature trees (we have 13 Post Oaks just on our lot) for $161,000. Granted, it needed a lot of updating, but I have family in the Pittsburgh PA area that tell me a house like mine would be in the $200K to $220K range up there.
My neighbor across the street is a retired Plant Manager for the Smuckers jelly company. He has two MG's he's restored that he keeps in the garage of his mom's house (whom he lives next door to), and another MGB GT hard top coupe he's working on in his own garage. He's got a custom front subframe and coil-over suspension ready to go in it, along with a supercharged GM 3.8 liter V6. He just put the green MG up for sale for $8000.
My other neighbor apparently collects BMWs. He had three the last time I counted, as well as a Toyota Tacoma 4X4. He spends all day every Saturday detailing all those cars.
The GC is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned. I bought myslef a new 2002 TJ years ago, which has been the only new car I've ever owned. everything else I've had was at least 10 years old when I bought it, until I got the GC.

That was my thought process. I at least knew that the car was washed and maintained regularly. And most people, unless they are complete a-holes, tend to treat rentals okay out of fear of being charged ridiculous rates for any damages. It really is in terrific condition for it's age. Most of my coworkers thought it was new. The only sign it isn't are those few wrinkles on the bottom seat pad of the front drivers seat. It's certainly the nicest one I found in the 2011-2013 year range. I'm not a fan of the front grill changes that started in '14. Looks too much like a big grin across the front.
My goal is to add and change some things to make it look more like this one. I'll also have a roof rack and some lights.

The GC is the nicest...
Hope you didn't mind, I snooped a little. Dang! Those are nice! I've seen vinyl wraps on doors to look like wood, thought yours looked a little more realistic. Real wood, that's why it looks like real wood. Duh.
I know about TX home prices, I considered moving there a while back. Still not out of the question totally as I would have a pretty hefty chunk to put down if I sold mine. You don't even want to know what that house would go for around me, or maybe I just don't want to think about what I'm paying.
MmmmmMGBGT custom love! Everyone needs a hobby, and that's a good one.
Wish I had snapped a pic of a WJ that used to be close to me, think the owner traded it for a Dodge pickemup. It was nice, kind of what you're going for.
Here's some better pictures of the garage door, showing a "before and after" with the regular metal door it replaced. We had this done right after Thanksgiving, which is why it's decked out with Christmas stuff in the first pic. The second pic is from the following Spring.
It's cedar, and I stained it with Minwax Provincial colored stain, and then gave it a coat of satin polyurethane.
When your garage door makes up nearly half of the "face" of your house, it helps to have a nice garage door that doesn't look like all the other ones in your neighborhood to give a big boost to the curb appeal and set it apart from neighboring homes.
The ones who actually rent the cars are the least of your worries. Those responsible for maintaining and parking them otherwise are the issue. it is a nice gc for sure. I have been eyeing some newer ones for the lady, they are nice vehicles.
