I have a few people wanting rock sliders for their xjs,
iv done alot for toyotas but those are simple because you can weld/bolt them right to the frame and your done, iv seen a few ways of doing it on the unibody of an xj but id like to get some specific pics of how yours are mounted.
thanks
i dont have any on my xj in case your wondering because i dont care about my rocker panels that much and when they are destroyed ill cut them out and put 2x6 box tube in its place

I got these during "Black Friday" but I haven't put them on yet.

I've got the JCR stage 3s and they mount with 8 bolts into the "frame rail" on each side then 5 bolts into the pinch seam. I've landed hard on them and 0 issues. JCR makes good stuff

I got the JCR 3's as well, just had them bedlined today by cutting edge customs, they lloookk great! Putting them on tomorrow, will post pictures of them after install for everybody!

They are pretty much straight forward drill and use the self tapping bolts to hold them. We put a set on 2 of our XJ's. both JCR's as well. Super strong!
Single unfinished slider

JCR marks their sliders to know which way is to the front so you don't put them on the wrong side. And yes it does matter.

end shot

showing some welds

a view to see how it sits before painting it

make sure to set a bolt for spacing before installing.

painted them with this

somebody's got to hold it up

a few pics right before mounting

on the Jeep finished

Mounted to the rail

sorry only got 1/2 the slider mount. This shot was for the skid plate install.

Installed on the black XJ as well

This is my one complaint about these. For some reason, they didn't account for the tow holes in the frame rail so 2 of the bolt holes get nothing unless you fab up something. Otherwise they are great.

I've been looking at the JCR's too. They do look good and strong, but sheet metal screws, really?
I think I am going to either weld them on to the frame rails, or drill through the frame rails and sleeve the holes and put plates on the inside of the frame rail to add some real strength to the frame and to the mounting points. But that's just me.

I dont have pics right now, but my AJarmor sliders used a 90* at the front leaf spring hangers and with 1 bolt on the mount then 2 against the frame rail there, then another set of 4 up at the front. Then four more in the pinch seam of below the rocker panels. Very stout.
edit heres a pic from his site showing the mounts. http://www.ajsoffroadarmor.com/images/D/Img_1959.jpg

He made the sliders too. I know a few guys in our club that have them and they are ruggid!!! I wanted them done this way so I don't have to worry about the rockers rotting out later. The out riggers you see in the pix are welded to the sub frame and then I took seam seal and did the top where it meets the floor,so everything is water tight. Real nice set up!!
