I used one of these on my '89.. The locking hub itself is from a Ford Ranger, it's the weak link.. I carry a spare.

What are the benefits or running locking hubs? What are the cons?

It stops daily driving wear and tear on the front axle assembly and driveshaft. And can allow ypu to run a spool up front and still drive normal on the street.

There aren't any direct bolt in axles of the correct width that will bolt in.

If you want to add D44 with manual hubs you'll have to do some fabrication and welding to make it work.

Keep in mind that your bolt pattern will change as well.
