Default How To Remove Wiper Arm?

I've been trying to figure out how to remove the wiper arms on my '99 Cherokee, but I can't figure it out. I tried searching on the forums, google, and youtube. Nothing I could find to try was working, unless I was doing something wrong.

I want to remove the arms so I can take the cowl off and vacuum out any debris that might be in there. Any help would be appreciated.

when i had to take mine off, i believe there were 2 metal tab like things that i had to pull out, then you pop a small cover of the end and remove the bolt and it will pop off with a bit of force.

i can take a pic of mine if you need it

A pic would be awesome if you could. I found a tab that I can pull, but is it supposed to pull out all the way or only part of the way? It only comes out part of the way when I pull it.

hmm i guess there isnt a bolt on the XJ ones, i just did our WJ ones so thats probably why i said that.

this tab here, pull it as far as it can come out, then pry with a screwdriver or something while pulling up. it SHOULD come off, i do remember mine being a bit of a pain but they ended up coming off

So pull up on the wiper arm while trying to pry the clip out?

nah, once the clip is out, its out if i remember right. Just stick a screwdriver a bit to the left where the wiper is in my pic, and pry with that and also pull straight up with the free hand. Its probably pretty corroded on there so it will take a bit or force.

but yea, once that clip is out, i dont recall having to keep pulling on it at all. hopefully someone else will chime in

So I was able to get them off today. You pull the wiper arm up until you are able to pull out the clip about 1/4 inch. Then let the wiper arm go back down, it will be almost against the window. Then you grab right around where the wiper arm is connected to the motor, and you rock it back and forth a bit, kind of like you are slapping the window with the wiper arm. Then it should pop right off. It's easy once you figure it out, lol.
