Bought my 2000 xj for $4600 with 101,000 miles. Bought Firestone Destination ats for $400. Replaced alternator for $125 and that's it.

Well if we're including purchase price, I'll have over $50K in mine once the build is done, since I bought mine new in June 2000, plus 15 years of regular maintenance, tires, brakes and a heater core and an axle rebuild out of warranty. I consider the purchase price and maintenance to be sunk costs, though, so I don't put them in the spreadsheets.

I spent too much buying it ~$6000 but it only had 109,000, remote start, newer paint, never offroad and most importantly RUST FREE.
$600 lift
$400 rims
$680 tires
$150 tint
$710 bumpers
$120 roof rack
$100 light bars
$360 headlights
$60 flowmaster super 44
$250 sye
$430 locker
$500 audio system
$50 seat warmers
$30 seat covers
Disc swap don't remember what it cost
I don't keep up with maintenance cost
Lots of random little crap
All prices approximate.
Probably a lot I'm forgetting.

Default Pockets Not Empty Yet..

I guess it's hard for me to compare myself to some of the deep pockets spent.. I have only been an XJ owner for about 3 months so my tally hasn't been super steep but I thought I'd throw in my dollar sum up..

1998 XJ w/ 160k mi. & blown headgasket- $1000
Head, gasket set, water pump, radiator, balancer, idler pulley, fan clutch, rear wheel cylinders, and the oil/coolant/etc.. $750
CD player, New speakers front and rear- $350

Thus far I'm only in just over $2k but I'm finding out that you never stop finding things to spend money on these XJ's.. It's suppose to be my daily driver/non-project vehicle (my other ride is a '68 Merc Monterey) but, it's hard not to look at all of the potential options for lifts/bumpers/lights/racks/and all the other parts. I'm sure I'll end up way deeper in this jeep by the time it's all said and done

2500 purchase price and about 300 bucks a year on repairs over 5 years. So about 4K. Not bad. Probably spent more than that on fuel though.......
