Default Jeep Cherokee Xj Engine swaps?

Okay so I'm new to forums. First post ever. I'll get straight to the point. I have an 89 cherokee, bought it for 300 bucks. Got it lifted etc. But now that it is lifted, the 4.0 feels kinda wimpy? I understand it's not a race car or anything lol. But that doesn't mean that I can't atest want or expect a little umpphh when I floor it. So my question is what's a good engine swap? My uncle/mechanic says a carbed chevy 350 would be the easiest and cheapest. But when I look up specs it doesn't sound to beefy itself. Then I see 4.7 stroker builds and it leaves me wondering? I want a swap that'll cost no more than 1500 and give me a little umpphh when I floor it. Any suggestions?

A regear will give you what you are looking for.

Final tire size will dictate what gears u need. What tire are u running and/or plan to run?

What size tires do you have on it now or want to run on it later?anything bigger then a 31 on the stock gears will be slow and have no power to it.

To swap a v8 you have to swap the trans and the t case or run a adapter kit.A v8 swap is a huge job and pricey try pricing having both driveshafts made for it.Most places charge 300+ each shaft. And a carb off road is a nightmare efi is the only way go.

There isn't a single engine swap that can be done for $1500 it's all the small parts that mount to a large amount in the end and a stroker will cost at least twice that.

Depending on tire size as others noted a gear change with lockers can be done for about that amount if you use cheaper lockers a full set of gears will cost about $500 for the pair.

gears will get you there easier/cheaper than drivetrain will. most go to 4.56 gears as most end up on 33/35s. figure out where you want to end up first

Hey man, when doing an engine swap do you have to change the center console?
