Default How many out there use XJ for DD

Some of my friends use the jeep at weekend only for desert or mud when the weather is good like these days and next 3 month they are 3-5 inch with bigger tiers not a DD at all .
Some of them use it for DD like me and use it with them in the desert but cant do what they did keeping it stock with very little left in the back only . (mine is bone stock but i go where ever they go except some huge hills)
The other 3% keep it for work stuff only .

did you DD your xj ? why ? is it lifted but DD ? you prefer to buy stock or lift XJ ? is lifting the jeep that important to you ?

I have a DD. Im in highschool and have a weekend job. I have a 3.5" lift and I prefer lift over stock, I think stock height on a Cherokee seems too low

My 98 is a DD. Right now its stock, but will be lifted with 33's, just like my 92 was that was also my DD. I prefer lifted. It just seems too low to the ground for my liking.

I DD my 89 with 4.5" lift and 32s Honestly yes lift is important to me, a stock height cherokee would not do me much good. I live in no-mans land here in the appalachian mountains and routinely climb over fallen trees, wade flooded roads etc just to get to work. If I wanted a station wagon I'd have bought one instead.

I have 2.

Ones a DD 99 Classic, 4.0 auto 231, stock tires/suspension, except zj tie rod and beefy stabilizer. Its got a Spectre Cowl Intake, 784s, Accel Tune up, thrush glass pack. Kenwood Stereo

I love it as a DD, but I miss the lift. I'm going to do a mild 2.5" lift (maybe 3" MAX) and 30s next year.

My other is a 91 almost done fixing damage from a total wreck earlier this year. It will have about 6.5" lift, long arms, steering, sye, etc. I got all the parts just waiting on the repairs to be done. (Time constraints)

Its going to he nice to have a wheeling rigs that's not my DD, I can finally be a little more daring on my adventures. I always played it safe when it was my DD.

I DD my 1989 XJ Limited with almost 198,000 miles. Just had the rear main seal, oil pan gasket, trans pan gasket, and trans filter replaced and it drive brilliantly. This week I plan on doing a WJ booster and master cylinder, and ZJ tie rod/drag link. As for modding it, I do plan on doing some more over the winter as weather and funding permits. 3.5" lift at the most, and some Soft 8's and BFG KM2 31's and I will be good to roll

My '96 is my main POV. It would be my daily driver but I have a work truck that I drive thru the week. Any off time stuff is in the '96 which is bone stock. Has around 73500 miles

I DD my 01 with 125k miles, even make the 500 mile round trip from college back home once every month or so. 4.5" lift with 32's on stock gears (for now) get about 18mpg driving generously on the highway with the windows down. However if I drive with the AC on and above 75.... Gas mileage drops like a ****

Mines my DD, I have a back up pickup but I prefer the XJ.

Definitely prefer how its sitting now over stock. Only downside is gas mileage but I haven't lost much and I don't commute very far. Though on the highway my MPG drops dramatically if I go faster than 65 or so. Have to floor it constantly to maintain speed over that.

Only thing I'd do different if I had a longer commute or had to travel on highways often is I'd leave my front swaybar in place with quick discos. Lift and tires are important because I wheel it often. If I didn't I'd probably still lift in 2" on 235s just for the ride height, visibility, and being 6'3" it makes it easier to get in and out.

Yes! I'm am 6-3 as well and would like to stop hitting my head on the lift gate!

Seriously a lift on my DD is damn near more about logistics than looks lol

Lift gate clears my head at 2", but I'm also on 32s so that helps.
