It's nice, and I'm sure the guy has a lot of money into it, but I would feel guilty taking an angle grinder or the inevitable BFH to that thing. haha In any case, I would find it hard to justify spending that much on that jeep.

About 4 months and all I use is craigslist from 4 different states searching all the larger cities and outlaying areas around them. Not as much junk or as high of prices as on fleabay, much easier to make a deal on also.
I wanted one certain year a 1999 as they had the best of all the prior 97 up and many new things for that yr. only and none of the bad things on the 00-01's making them undesirable (quite a few).
Bought mine out of state for $1800 asking price was $2900 paid in dead presidents after an hour of dickering, cash speaks in a loud clear voice where checks do not. I had walked away from at least half a dozen before I looked at this one and bought it for the price I wanted to pay for it.

Yeah I wouldn't spend 13k on an XJ... Well... Not all at once anyway lol. I'm still looking, but unfortunately my schedule isn't set up well for going more than about 4-5 hours away at a time to view one. I too want a 1999 if I can swing it, definitely the best of all worlds. I found a 2001 XJ within about an hour, 125k miles, the dealership it's at wants $8k for it, firm. I'm sorry but that's just downright unreasonable!

After i did a bit of research on the xj and figured out what to look for and what to stay away from.....it took about 4 months to find her. 97 xj....no rust and a few small dings and the headliners shot...but it had the 8.25 rear axle, and she runs strong. No leakage. 178,000 and change when i got it. Searched high and low...up to a state in either direction. Found her on Craigslist of all places. Asked 3000...got her for 1500. Been almost two years and shes still going strong. My advice...give it time. Your xj will find you.

I must have been looking for mine for over nine months - long enough to recognise XJs that had been relisted after a few months. In the end I got mine after responding to an email alert to an Ebay saved search. If I had waited 2 minutes to call I'd have missed the chance.

I was pretty set on purchasing a clean XJ so distance was not a deal breaker, but I did budget for a short trip just in case. If you want something, go get it. Took me a couple weeks and I test drove 5. I purchased all the tune up parts, accessories and misc. items before I even bought the Jeep so I already invested time and money up front. It works out if you plan for it and don't expect a perfect jeep!

Very nice! Decided to go with a 2 door, eh? Looks clean and well taken care of. Did I see you driving in PB today? Anyway, let me know if you need a hand or anything. Mine has been all over my garage and back together more times than I can count (including right now).
