How good is POR-15?
I got the bad news today... the carpet in the jeep is in great condition and you can even check it from underneath
So it's getting some welding and some new floor - but I was wondering if POR-15 would help the cause with some of the bits that have some surface rust but are still solid. We can get it over here in the UK but it isn't well known so I thought I'd ask here because it is an American product.
Do guys from the wetter states use it and is it any good?
thanks!

It is very good stuff and alot of resto mods use it to eat the rust off the floor and trunk pans so they can fab and paint with out having to cut and replace whole sections.

Well that's a good start! Does it last a decent time? I'm hoping for another five years from this Jeep. She's a 1996 and only just turned 85,000 miles...

It should last forever, or atleast till everything else rusts out from around it.

POR-15 is good stuff. It won't stick to good paint, only the rusty stuff, and it will break down in UV (direct sun) light.

^^ Umm... No. Not that stuff... Por-15 has a patch putty as well, would work decent to plug up those holes, and keep your carpet from getting wet....

You could check this stuff out too. I just got some for both XJ's but it hasn't been on long enough to tell you how it works. This stuff will stick to anything!!

Basically, the product is the same as this one, a rust converter, it works the same by converting rust into a primered ready to paint surface.

Thanks for the replies, I've bought some and I'll let you know how it does. If it works here, it'll work anywhere...
