Default how to ensure that the front hubs are disengaged

If I have been in 4WD, and want to make sure that the front hubs are disengaged for 2WD or or flat towing, how do I do it?

Your rig isn't equipped with that type of hub.

XJ's have Unit Bearing Hubs, the front wheels are always connected to the stubshaft.

Your front axle is not engaged until the transfercase is moved from 2wd to either 4hi or 4 lo. As a result, your front driveshaft will always spin when the rig is moving.

There are manual hub kits available but they cost far more than most people are willing to spend and the return on investment just isn't there, IMHO.
