Throw it back up into place with the spacer, try a bolt, cuss, wiggle it around, try again, cuss, throw wrench, cuss, step back, take a break, have another go, cuss out the engineers for their design, rub your tired arms cause your tired of holding it up there trying to get that frigging bolt to start, suggest the gear boxes parents were not married, cuss out the engineers for not leaving enough room to do the job, or......
Just funnin, done what seems like a million gear boxes on all kinds of junk, you just have to finness it until you can get one bolt (the top or forward one preferably) in then it'll pivot off that one to get the others in. Someone suggested a screwdriver (or a punch maybe, thats not a bad idea) If it's still connected to the pitman arm and drag link, you are going to work harder as that makes it a much more difficult chore. It can be done either way though, just takes some patience if its still linked to the steering.
I know, not a ton of help, but its all I got.

It is a little tricky. It works better with two people, unless you have trimmed fenders and can reach around them. Get another bolt that is a half inch longer, put a nut down it a little ways and grind a point on the end, then remove the nut. This will clean up the threads for you. Then the first thing to do is align the aluminum spacer. You will see it there. Move it around until the pointed bolt goes through it. Then move the box around a little until the bolt aligns in the hole. Now you have to make sure the box is not cocked at a slight angle or you will cross thread it. Usually when I do mine I have to shove it all the way against the frame, then it will be aligned. Once you get the first one started, the rest will be easier. Move the plate first and then the box on the second one. The third will go right in.
