Anyone have ideas on how I can make a brush guard that isn't very thick but also protects my front?

Get some 1.5 or 1.75"x.120 or even .095 HREW tube. Would be the best material to use.

I would first check your local JY. I was gonna build one, figurin id save a few bucks, but I found one off a XJ and picked it for $55+$4 for scrap steel to mount it with. this brushguard has been tested throughly. a woman blew a stop sign a year and and I hit her doin 45. $1700 to her car and $2 to mine and that was just to replace a piece of the scrap steel.

Best part is that you can pull one off of any small suv and then fab it to fit. like a blazer, rodeo etc.

mine is actually a Western guard off of a ZJ that had the headlight guards sawed off and fabed to the front end of an older XJ. if your good with a cutoff wheel and have access to a drill press, you can whip of a custom brushguard for under $100. guaranteed. it's all about your imagination and how crafty you are.

I'm not sure but I think you make a brush gard with mettle and there might be some welding involved.

I got mine off of craigslist, I think it was 35 bucks. It is for a cherokee, but it survived my wife doing some wheeling. I can tell you how many trees that woman hits
