Default Hood spaces

What did you guys use for your hood spacers to raise the back up a little bit for better venting?
1" steel tube or would a bunch of washers work too?

I bought a kit off eBay. It was a half inch aluminum block with longer bolts. You can definitely pick up a bunch of washers and do it for cheaper. I just bought it out of convenience

I did. I actually remember reading somewhere that a vortex is created at the cowl that doesn't allow air to flow out from the back of the hood.

I just used a small nut on the bolt side then put back in. Cost 4 nuts $.15

Yeah I really didn't notice a difference in temperature with the hood spacer either. Plus it looks kinda tacky with the hood propped up like that. I would say do it right and just go straight for hood vents

X2.

When I first did mine, everybody was all like "what's wrong with your hood". And id make up some crap to say it allows air flow and blah blah till they believed me.

I got this kit and havn't had a heat saok issue since. it's not going to bring down engine temps, that is controled by the thermostat. all it does is allow the hot air to come out from under the hood while you're moving. i left the rubber strip on and it still lets the air come out just fine.

I'm thinking about doing this to mine too. You don't need any fancy kit or anything. Washers will work fine. I guess it would look nicer with one spacer though.

I really want to get hood Vents and not even shim my hood but until I find a set that's not a million dollars... Lol

i'm still planning to do vents, i just needed something quick because i had a misfire due to heat soak. i would have done the washers as well, but this was free to me because i had a credit on amazon.
