Hmmm what to do...
Aright, I have a 2000xj with 133,000 on the clock. It has a D35 which is a bummer, but it is rust free and everything seems to be working great.
Heres the deal, been reading quite alot about the 0331 head issue and its got me a little paranoid about my jeep. No, it doesnt have any of the symptoms but still it worries me.
Im kinda considering selling it and getting into a 97-99 w/ a C8.25 and 0630 head, but then I could be opening up a whole new package of unknown issues that may come along with it.
What would you guys do? I want opinions....

well theres a few things you can do for the D35. but as for the 0331 head dont worry about it too much
ive thought about the same thing or swoping in a older head. you can make it work. BUT you can make any 4.0 start, run and drive. the thing is, the 0630 head is not made for a 2000 eng set up
98/99 head, intake , block
2000 intake block 99 head. no that wouldint work. from 99ish too 2000 they changed alot IN the 4.0l the ecus, cams, intake, head, ect they are all diff. jeep r&d the 2000 4.0l FOR a 2000 Xj.. when you put a older head on a newer block with out changeing other things arown.. i mean it will " run " but it would be the same you know
rember they made the 4.0 intill 2006. if you really worryed about it look in to geting a 2002 or newer head they fixed the prob thos years.

Yeah Im not really looking to spend the money on a head swap right now. It would kinda be just getting into a whole different xj 97-99 with a C8.25 as a bonus. lol
Im just tossing the idea around really

might not be a bad idea. but a lot of people want more for '99s than they do for '00, '01, at least the last few times that i've been looking. it's like the whole world knows what year xjs are better, lol...
but, i'd say you're on the right track. get rid of the will be trouble head, LP d30 and the crappy d35.
