Hitch mounted cargo carriers?
Anyone experience with
We had a nasty winter last year in New England and I am guessing this years is going to be worse. I'll need to lug the snow blower around town to do some elderly family and friends. Thinking of tossing one of these on the back of the Jeep Cherokee and hauling around the blower? Experiences? Its a 28" Ariens.

I have not used that model but I have used the regular flat one to haul my lawnmower around. I used bungee cords to keep it secured in the basket. I like the ramp on that one as that was my only issue, lifting the lawnmower on and off. I also use it for luggage and stuff for vacations. Its a very handy thing to have.

I use a cargo basket regularly. Great for crab pots, fish and beach supplies. Doubles as a table.

Like it
I have one similar but want to make one that raises and lowers. I need one that sits higher giving me more clearance in the back for offroading so I don't get hung up on that steep bank I just came down. But it would also be nice to be able to lower it out of the way so the hatch will open.

Normally that would be enough...
Normally that would be enough Steve, but I find myself needing more clearance back there due to the steep angle of wash banks I go over. Many are steeper than 45 degrees and the one I have like yours would leave me hanging in the air. Just needs to come out and then be located in a higher position so that I have a steeper angle of clearance back there.
I'll have to make a double 90 degree configuration so that it ends up being just a bit lower than the back window. It would be nice to also incorporate a double arm pivot self leveling system (like loader bucket arms) with a lock pin so that I can let it down to the ground out of the way when needed while parked.
