Default HIDs?

I'm wondering what kits and housings you guys went with if you have HIDs on your XJs? Or even other headlight upgrades while still keeping it cheap.

Lots of info in there. Also, don't do HIDs unless you get a real retrofit housing.

Best, easiest way. I run them, had them for 2-3 years now, and they are amazing.

Also use the putco harness upgrade, no matter what you do.

Why do the harness?

The Pegasus now come with H4 adapters that plug individually into the factory harness.

Definitely do the Pegasus projectors. They're not only DOT approved for safety on the road, but they're made for HIDs.

Never put HIDs in a factory or aftermarket halogen housing. HIDs are not meant to be reflected backwards toward a reflector plate that projects the light forward. This causes light scatter that blinds oncoming drivers. HID light needs to be focused with a projector lens because of the high intensity of the light discharge.

The factory harness allows for a lot of voltage drop between the fuse box and the lights, hence the harness upgrade.

Basically all the voltage to the headlights run thru that switch, and not thru a relay like it should have been from the factory.

The switches burn out because of this.

The harness upgrade removes the switch from the main power loop, essentially making it just activate the relay to power the headlights.

You get more power to the lights themselves, and a lot of load is taken off the switch, which obviously isn't made to handle that load very well.

Idk about flicker, mine only did that when the plug was loose.

They were just really dim and sucked for light output. My rechargeable flashlight out preformed the stockers.
