Well I started taking out the seats and cleaning the interior up so I could remove the carpet. While removing the passenger seat I broke the bolt in the rear. I guess I will have to drill and tap that.

The driver seat is horrible thanks to rust. I'm hoping by saturating the bolts with break away by the time I go to take them out they won't break. But they probably will with my luck. Don know how I feel about heating up the bolts because of the carpet maybe catching on fire. Although I'm not keeping the carpet.

Any suggestions?

I have Rust-oleum on my floorboards with no heat issues, I actually left the carpet in the middle around the console to help with heat and I have had no issues.

Some would call it ghetto, but I think it's alright. I don't care much about looks as I only use my XJ on trails, I care about function. So, yes, kinda ghetto

Mine is a daily driver I was thinking, why if I cut the carpet tithe edge of the console and left it under there? You wouldn't be able to see it and that would eliminate the hassle of having to deal with it. I could loosen it up, lift up cut then herculiner it just up to the carpet and tighten everythig back down. What do you think? Also what size Torx is that damn rear seat bolt?

I wouldn't use herculiner personally I used it on a truck bed once and after only 6 months it looked like trash. granted it was outside all time but either way If I was u I would get the real deal and wait til u can afford to get it Rhino lined.

I've used rustoleum spray can bed liner on truck beds, my cargo area, and the exterior of my truck and have had no issues. Still looks the same as the week I put it on. Probably run you quite a bit more than the gallon can variation butits much easier to apply and it works so om sticking with it.

I used duplicolour and it works and looks good. I'll be doing my new rig in it too.
