HELP!! My 2015 Cherokee Latitude key won't turn to off position.
My 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude has the key stuck in the ignition because it will not turn into the off position. This happened about a year ago and a friend of mine wiggled some wires under the dash to the left of the steering wheel behind that little storage compartment door that comes off. This made everything come back on fine and the key was released out of the ignition without a problem. Now I have the same problem but I was able to start the car and turn engine off but I just couldn't get the key out of the ignition and I would have to unhook the battery to keep the battery from draining. So one minute it will start and work fine except for getting the key out of the ignition and then one minute it will not start or anything or make any noise or click or anything just dead. Had the battery tested and it is fine because it is new. The key assembly was rebuilt about a year ago as well as gear shift assembly being replaced for the same problem and they were not able to figure out why it was doing it but it came out anyway by luck. So now I'm left with a jeep that won't turn over won't start won't click or anything and the key will not come out of the ignition because it will not turn to the off position. ANY SUGGESTIONS!?!? IM DESPERATE!

Most people on here have the older style XJs , but HOPEFULLY someone will know the ACTUAL fix.
I'm going to assume you have already tried the wire wiggle that your buddy did?
I'd say that there's a loose connection, or loose ground, or short somewhere "under the dash to the left of the steering wheel", so start under there and look for wires that are loose, frayed, broken. etc. I know there's a TON of wires under there, but that seems like the likeliest place the problem is. You may even have to trace wires out a few feet to check their ends.
This is also why most of us run older rigs; fewer wires, fewer computers, etc.
What about going to the auto parts store near you and having them run a scan tool? It's worth a shot!
Climb under there and take a couple of pics and post them up here. Many eyes are sometimes better than 2

If the key cannot be removed, this could indicate a problem with the ignition lock mechanism. Check to see if the steering wheel is stuck or if the steering column is in the locked position. Sometimes, moving the steering wheel slightly while trying to remove the key can help.
