That or fill it with bondo. I'd highly suggest doing the above though.

I don't like bondoing places like roofs. Roofs are thin and vibrate a lot. It looks like that's what happened already. That looks like bondo chipping to me

A better question is why is there so much Bondo on the roof?

It is also possible that something fell on it (like a tree branch) or it was in a hail storm, but it definitely looks like the roof was repaired.

There are several options, personally I'd strip down the roof and then do a good rattle-can job with some dupli-color (with primer and clear too of course) since you don't really see the roof it probably won't matter if it isn't absolutely perfect.

Other options would be to try to fix just the damaged area, but that likely won't last, especially if there is more Bondo on the roof, as others stated, the roof is a big flat sheet of metal and flexes a lot, any Bondo will crack/chip eventually. Of course a body shop is always an option, but you would probably be looking at atleast $500 for a decent job (assuming you strip it and do the prep yourself, probably double that if you let them do everything).

Tree branch hit was my firth thought too on first look but could be a hard hit from the inside with that long crack.
