Default Heater Control Valve Replacement

Hey guys. So some of you have been following along with the misadventures of my golden heap. I recently got it running right and to stop leaking fluids and i got about 1 mile away from my house for the first real test drive and i looked out the rear view and ask my lady...is that a smoke cloud? Due to it being super foggy. By the top of the hill i was overheating and pulled over immediately. Happy christmas eve indeed.

The heater control valve broke off inside the hose going to the coolant tank. I bought a new heater control valve but i cant figure out how to install it because i cant get the hoses off the old one.

here are a couple pictures.

So here is the new one.

And here is the old one.

I cant get the hoses off the old one. I dont know what kind of fittings those are. Does anyone know how to remove these?

They are compression fittings your only way is to cut the fittings off and replace with hose clamps. And possible replace hoses too, depending on condition.

You don't really need the valve. They are prone to breaking and most people just remove them and use either longer hoses or a couple short pieces of tubing and hose clamps (what I did). But ,yeah, you'll have to cut rhose compression fittings off there and use hose clamps.

Or just go to any parts store and buy them new. Theyre cheap.

Here is the best^^^ advice so far.

The HCV is totally unnecessary and as you now know, a source of catastrophic leakage from your cooling system.

I eliminate them on all my Jeeps and I live in Arizona with no problems with extra cabin heat. The cabin heat is controlled by a blend-air door in the HVAC system anyway.
