Which headlights???
not sure on what headlights to order. i've seen on here the hella composite housings, with silverstar bulbs. but are the hella housings that much better than just the 6054 silverstars? i will be ordering this harness also, cause im sure it would help. thanks
http://www.eautoworks.com/product-eA...com-189849.htm. or the lmc harness if i get the silverstars.
i just dont want to waste $$$ on something. i will be driving the interstate now to work for an hour a day, and want some good light.

I am also interested in upgrading my headlights, so i would be interested in seeing how others have done it. I found complete setups online, but DAMN $$$$$$!

the cheapest i found was h4 bulbs, and the hella housings on ebay. but i dont know if its worth the extra money to do that or just by the replacement 6054 silverstars.

I went with the IPF H4 housings, but any good H4 conversion should probably work about the same. They use the European cutoff pattern which is helpful. As for the bulbs, I'm not a big fan of the Silverstars. They use a blue filter on the bulbs to make the light appear whiter, which makes it appear brighter to your eyes. The problem is that any filter will actually cut down on the amount of light being transmitted by the bulb, so you're actually getting less light thrown down the road. They also suck for bulb life.
I'm using the GE Nighthawk bulbs in my IPF housings, they're bright enough and don't have a coating on the bulb so you get the full light output, and they last longer than Silverstars.

done some research. looks like the ge nighthawk has 200 more lumens, but 200 less kelvins.
i am going to say i would rather have lumens, vs kelvin's==more light, just not as white.
now the hard part is finding the ge bulbs, i have looked and cant find any exept ebay, and they were like $50 each.
also the silverstars are life rated for 100 hrs, vs ge at at least 200hrs.

H4 = 9003, which is a lot easier to find. Amazon has the Nighthawks in a 2-pack for like $35. H4 is the European designation, 9003 the American.

autopals on Ebay are a decent h4 conversion w/ choices of bulbs...
I bought the Silverstars and at first I didn't upgrade the harness... and I was completely disappointed... it was almost as bad as regular sealed beam halogen, and complete crap in the rain.
After the harness upgrade, WOW!, what a difference. I bought the cheap one off of ebay and it's good.

Hi guys, I was referred here by a member. I have a 2000 Classic, and I also sell conversion housings. What I did for my Jeep is 200mm Autopal H4 E-code housings with 35W 5000K HID Xenon bulbs and ballast. I charge $50 for the housings (both housings), and then you can put whatever H4 bulbs in you like, or $140 for the housings and Xenon kit. I have a f/s thread over there with feedback:

PM me if you're interested.

p.s. a sharp eye will note that there is a DOT light shown below. This is before I switched. It is still an H4 conversion housing.

Hello everybody. I am new to this forum.
I recently went through the same thing with my 2000 XJ. I have been running Sylvania Silverstar 6054 halogens for the past two years. I believe they are a lot brighter than the standard halogen 6054. Again, I have run these lights for two years with no issues.
I have also been running the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras in my 1994 F150. I have had these for about a year and a half and they work great.
Earlier this week, I installed the Hella H4 conversion kit. The lenses come with Hella bulbs included for about $50 each from Quadratec. This is a direct drop in kit and is very easy to install. Both the low and high beams are much broader, with light being evenly spread. Switching from the Silverstars to the Hellas, makes the Hellas appear very yellow. I plan on installing Sylvania Silverstars in the very near future and keeping the Hella bulbs as spares. When I do switch to Silverstars, I will have brought the cost of headlight upgrades to about $150. I have no regrets thus far. The Hella conversion kit is expensive, but I am satisfied with it. The Silverstar bulbs are also expensive, but I have been satisfied with thier performance also. I hope this helps. Steve

http://www.quadratec.com/products/97009_120.htm
Would that be the same as the hella upgrade? and with this, would you want to upgrade the wiring with something like in the 1st posting, the http://www.eautoworks.com/product-eA...com-189849.htm
