Hail Damage
I was driving through VA tonight and got pummeled by hail. The hail was a little smaller than a baseball. The hood, fenders and roof were damaged. Anyone else ever gotten hail damage? Did you go through the insurance company?I'm hoping the insurance company doesn't total my XJ.

I tried to take pics tonight but they did not come out good. I'll try again tomorrow while it's sunny. I'm kinda worried because i used to work for my insurance company handling total losses and I would say it's on the border line of being totaled with age and mileage. If it's totaled I'm going to withdraw my claim and just buy a used hood.

Insurance Company definitely; Hail damage is one of the hardest things to fix. Especially on the hood, & roof. (most times it's easier to replace the hood, then remove the dimples) Good time to get that cowl induction hood you wanted. Know any body shops, that will cut you some deals................................JMO!...I'll bet the dimples show really good on Black too!

luckily I'm still friends with a lot of the field adjusters. I'm going to make sure I have a friend doing to estimate. I just want them to try as hard as they can to fix it.

Why not let them total it, then buy it back from them for a couple hundred bucks and take the insurance money to do what you want. Its a comp claim also so it wont count against you as a surcharge.

Because of shadows and pollen, I couldn't get good pictures. Here are some of the dents. I attempted to count the dents in the hood. I counted 53 on the drivers side of the hood.

Here in Georgia, hail damage is covered by insurance. Their was a major hail storm last year in 09. It cost the insurance company 1400$ to pull out the dimples on my dads 08 charger.
The small stuff can be pulled out. The big stuff they can't do anything about except beat it back to shape but you can still tell.
I don't think your insurance company would total your vehicle over hail. It would be slightly cheaper for them to pay to fix it.
