Dear Original Buyer:
Although I don't quite understand the logic of ordering a Country and opting for cloth (Making it a glorified Classic, if Classics had been made that year), or taking said JEEP and using primarily for towing something big enough to require a class V hitch, and taking said $35,000 vehicle to essentially sit outside and have the gelcoat boil off, I really do appreciate that you kept up on the oil changes and documented every single thing you ever did to the Jeep ever.
To Pastor Kate of Cape Girardeau, MO:
For someone who obviously isn't a mechanically inclined person, I'm impressed. You never took her off road, but when the transfer case bit it, you bought a brand spankin' new Jasper with warranty and had it installed. When the factory stereo bit it, you installed Kickers around and put in an Alpine head unit. I find it odd that you did these things but never got around to fixing owner 1's exterior neglect, but your regular Pennzoil Conventional oil changes and regular tune ups left me with a very solid Jeep. Also, thanks for the Viper remote start and security. Not only did you do all this, but you also became one of the few honest Clergy that I have ever met when, during the purchasing process, you actually pointed out little imperfections that I would have missed and teaching me how to work all of the additions. Not only that, but when you sent the other key that you forgot at home, you also wrote a letter wishing me well with the Jeep. As a final note, thanks for the tires. They're all seasons, but they're better in the mud than you'd expect. And I appreciate it.

to my PO,

thank you so much for treating my jeep like a baby. Your flawless attention to detail, oil changes down to the mile, and regular tune ups have made her a fantastic vehicle. Your impeccable cleaning and maintaining the interior makes her look like she just rolled out of the factory. Now why did you remove the cb radio you jerk. You could have at least left it for me. thanks a ton you *****.

Especially considering the catalytic converter was gone and I could see the crappy job you did trying to weld just a muffler on. Oh, and thanks for making it look like the back door on the driver's side was completely functional, not frozen shut and immobile.
Thanks, a**hole
Your story sounds a whole lot like mine! My XJ had a chip in the windshield, my cat rattled like crazy, and my rear driver's side door still won't open!!!! I still have to get around to fixing it, but I haven't had the time.

My stepdad picked it up and drove it to me. I had a list of must-fix's: rear hatch struts, heater core & a quarter-sized rust spot. Then I found out what I had actually gotten myself into. Rear driver's window doesn't work. Found in the (lucky to have them) maintenance records where it was put up and disconnected right before I bought it. Sagging oil pressure (read all the threads, thanks!), header's drooping, warped armrests, LOTS of rusty parts, leaky tires...

I later found out from my mom that my step-dad took it to a detailing shop to get it cleaned up because he was so embarrassed at how my brother had treated the XJ like a rolling closet. He also had an alignment done so I wouldn't think it was a total POS when I picked it up.

To be honest, it's really in quite good condition, regularly maintained by a local lube shop, but it didn't get the love it DESERVES. You don't raise a happy child by sliding food under the garage door.
LMAO, slide food under the garage door......thats freakin awesome...good luck with that, sounds like you got it where it needs to be....or close(its never where you want it)

Take off the door panel, and make sure the lock and latch linkages are fine. If they are, hit them with some PB blast and also grease them. Start working the lock button along with the handle until the door finally opens. When the door opens, grease the door striker. Basically, lube everything up and you're all good!

To my LOVELY previous owner...

Thank you for keeping up with oil changes...and only oil changes. I just absolutely LOVED opening up the differentials to have a pile of black substance that was formerly oil fall onto my pan in one giant plop. I also loved not knowing what color the fluid was originally in the transfer case, as when i drained it it was the color of, well, coal. Same goes for the transmission.

Thank you for not knowing the proper times to use 4wd and driving around on dry payment and putting a split on the front driveshaft.

Thank you for not telling me about the leaky radiator...

Thank you for leaving me a used "baby blocker" under the rear seat...

Thank you for putting the CHEAPEST tires you could possibly find.

Thank you for only putting 79,000 miles on her

Thank you for having your kid rip out my "Oh $H!T" bars ( i have no idea how in the world they did that)

Thank you for letting you kid spill his food everywhere, and to this day (2 years later) im still finding cheerios

Thank you for warping the brakes so that if i hit the pedal between 45-60mph the entire front end felt like it was going to explode

And lastly thank you for charging me $5000 for the girl i call Peggy and love so much today

....thank you...

Ok, I've replaced both front wheel hubs, ALL of the U-joints, all of the ball joints, and changed every fluid. (some fluids have been flushed more than once, I'm thorough)

The heater core is going bad, I can smell coolant when the heat is on. Thanks for NEVER flushing the coolant.

I put new shocks on it all the way around. I KNOW you must have felt sentimental and didn't want to get rid of a part just because it wasn't working. Those shocks have been along for the ride without working for some time now. Well, I cut them and all the other useless parts from her and threw them in the dumpster.

The best part, I got the title in the mail today. It's 101 degrees, (118 heat index) and I'm about to die in this heat trying to finish this work up.

So, it's a bit rambling, but I'm pretty sure I have some sort of heat stroke. Thanks again for really abusing this poor vehicle.

P.S. My wife took it for an errand and didn't latch the hood. So now I have to replace the hood, hinges, and cowl grille. Sigh.

Thanks to the PO for sell me this jeep so cheap, im really glad you stop driving it when the water pump went out and belt came off.

I only wish you would have changed the brakes cuz the back brake shoes are bare metal so have to get them replaced.

And thanks for letting a mouse get in there, make his home and **** all over the place, so now i have to rip out the carpet just to get the horrible smell out.

But thanks for the really good deal of only $300 and able to drive!
