yes.. but whats the difference.. most XJ have gas tank same area, and even lower.

how would chrysler do a buy back for a 20 yr old truck that's been lifted/modded with $1000's put into it. lol

give me a gas tank skid plate that's bullet proof, and i will look the other way.

Even so, lifted XJs show more of the tank and would be in worse situation if there was say.. rear end collision.

 

The suggested recall is silly, the NHTSA wants the fuel tanks somehow relocated to in front of the axle, imagine trying to make that work, plus the numbers dont justify the recall.

 

I think the XJ was the only well built vehicle from Jeep in my opinion lol. The Inline 6 is bullet proof. The only car I'd trade my xj for would be an SRT8 Jeep GC hahaha.

You will not be compensated for your inconvenience. Do you have a recall notice? What is the recall number? What does it say it is for? Ask the dealer if they will give you a rental.

 

my 87 has a factory skid plate under it.
The wifes 99 has a Class 3 hitch in the back, never been user it to notice if it has a skid plate but I bet it does it has one in the front.

Non issue to me, crap happens and there is very few wrecked ones in the salvage yards that burned from the back. AMC wiring sucks the first years might burn there but not from the back lol.
