Got a new cherokee 5.2l , Loving it! stability question though...
Hey guys,
i havent been on here for quite a while, but I just purchased a '97 grand cherokee that has 3'5 inch of lift, and 31x10.5' bf goodrich tires. Its got the 5.2l v8. So far i've had it for a week and love it. Never was too big a fan of the grands but this one is a lot of fun to drive.
The biggest issue with it is sway. I've lifted a regular cherokee 4.5' with 33x10.5 tires and never had this issue, (though i have had death wobble and thats not what this is)
Driving at any speed, i really have to focus on going straight. like it just sort of sways. i took it in for an alignment, and they replaced my tie rods, but this did not help.
Any tricks or suggestions on something i could get to make the swaying stop? its borderline kind of dangerous. Here's a couple pictures of it.

The Grand Cherokee quad coil suspension will feel like it has more body lean than an XJ with rear leafs. Plus 3.5" of lift with the stock control arms don't help either. You may need a bit more caster up front to keep it from wondering down the road. Check the rear track bar bolts, mine was loose and made my ZJ feel like the teacup ride at Disneyland. I replaced the track bar bushings with polyurethane bushings and it helped the ZJ feel more stable.
