good bye rufus... maybe
Well today is a sad day. I have been over heating for the last month, lost power steering and can barely turn the wheel and I'm pretty sick of dumping money into it so it might be good bye .. thinking of selling and getting a cj or another jeep.

Put in a new tstat and put spacers under the hood and I'm putting in new steering pump tommorow.. the tstat didn't do jack. Tried without tstat in at all and still over heated. Once I get my steering right imma try again with my new 180* tstat in. If that doesn't work imma put in a new water pump and if that doesn't do it I think I'm gonna throw in the towel

A while back, my 89 over heated every time i took it out
Then i noticed my electric fan was not turning on
Got a fan relay out of the junk yard, no more over heating.
LOL at the time, i took out the Tstat and never put one it back in!!

The E-fan should come on at around 220. I'm willing to bet is that, radiator needs flushed, or the system just needs new coolant. Depending on how cold it gets in winter where you are, mix as much water as possible into the coolant (I run about 75% water, 25% ethylene glycol)
If the water pump was dying, you would hear about it because your engine would sound like a diesel from the shot pump bearings.
