I'm sure a lot of you already know this, but I figured I'd throw it out there since I just had to do it. So, my Yellow Top decided it was time to crap out after 6 years of faithful use. It couldn't hold a charge anymore, but the amazing thing is that I was still able to start it every morning for a week with it only holding about 5v. Just had to give it some gas to keep the alt from pulling to much from the engine at first. Anyway, rather than going up to the local autoparts store to pay a ridiculous amount for a new one, I go up to the Interstate batteries dealer. I ask for a 34 BLEM and paid a whole $33 after tax for a brand new battery with the same specs as my yellow top.

BLEM's are truly the way to go. They're not defective in any way. The only thing that causes a battery to be labeled a BLEM is a sticker missing, or the color isn't quite right, or there's a scratch in the plastic. Other than cosmetics, the battery is perfectly fine. Telling ya, it's the way to go if you need a new battery. Sometimes they do carry actual Optima BLEMs as well.

 

Ive done that with tires! They have a tire shop by me that sells misprinted tires. I bought my gf a set of perfectly new tires for $150 because they were blem's.

I go there all the time to check, they have awesome deals.
