I to thought of 4.10s instead of 4.56 because I do drive it on the interstate every now and then but I'm not overly concerned about fuel milage however I don't wanna be redlining it at fifty. On the lockers I'm wantin somethin reasonably priced I don't have a lot in the build and I'd like to keep it that way while still keeping it mildly built

You'll be at 2 grand RPMs with 4.56s at maybe 65 MPH and above. Probably not great for interstate driving, but if you're doing a lot of stop and go traffic, do 4.56s instead of 4.10s. The reason I say this is because 4.56s are the closest to the stock power band you can get with 33 inch tires.

Your gas mileage will thank you. There's hardly a difference between 4.10s and 3.55s; almost not even worth the leap for the price. On the other hand, you will probably like them if you're on the interstate more than 40% of the time. If you're only on the interstate maybe 20% or less of the time, there's no reason to compromise.

If you have mountains, go even deeper than 4.56s.

My Jeep will even take my buddy's off of the line – he has 33s and 4.10s and I have 33s and 3.55s. We have the same lift kits and same specs. Weird. My engine or transmission might be in better shape than his.

Umm... In my ZJ (heavier) with 4:88s and 33"s (for a short period of time) was awesome... 75mph @ 2600rpm in OD... granted the 42RE and AW4 may have slightly different Overdrive gearing in the trans, but it has to be so slight it shouldn't matter... I'm running 35s now. I'm sooo glad I went with my gut and not with internet advice... 4:88s are the bees knees... I had 33's with 4:10s once and my OD was worthless here in the Northwest where we have hills.... I would hate driving that everyday.. plus the wear on the trans.... My 2cents

X2.

XJ's need gears. You'll want bigger tires eventually. I have 4.56's on 35's and it is meh on road but pretty sweet offroad. 4.88's would be even more kewl.

"Don't fear the gear."
Go with the 4.56's, you will NOT regret it.

I like stock gearing. So you can run 55mph in first gear and impress your friends.

Same here 4.56 were great with my short lived 33's. Now on 35's, 4.56 gears, & climbing hills or towing are a bit of a struggle. 4.88's would have been nicer. The 4.56 gears are much better for gas mileage over stock gears & 33's.

Yep. 4.56's on 33x10.5's was like having a race car for about a month until I got some 35's.

I just did 4.56 for my 33's instead of 4.10 because eventually I will want to go bigger and when I do, I do not want to re-gear again.

So we all agree 4.56 is the way to go with gears now for lockers. Keep in mind the budget but I'm tryin to decide between Spartan and ox lockers however there might be a more cost efficient way of doing it as well so open to any and all suggestions. Went ahead and ordered 4.56 gears for the front and rear

You'll need master install kits and a new carrier for the front. Go ahead and decide if you want a full case locker as you can't just throw one in once your gear set up is done with a different carrier.

Hope you shopped around.
