I built an internal rack for 4 fishing rods, and a 2-piece kayak paddle. The budget was around $20, and it came out very nicely (clean, doesn't get in the way of passengers heads, etc.)

i was just thinking about making fishing pole holders for the inside! i really want to do that. Where did you mount everything? Where'd you get the materials? id love to know cause I'm a huge fishermen and it'd be perfect for the summer. thanks.

I used 2 adjustable closet hanger poles that included mounting brackets at each end. They were about $9 each. I then made some plastic hangers that allowed the polls to be mounted to the internal trim, with the weight distributed, and without anything damaging the trim. Then I just covered them with black pipe insulation and a few special doo-dads for holding the poles and paddles. There placement keeps them from being in the way of anyone's head. I'll put some pictures up when I can.

Here are some pics. The one with the sleeping kid was thrown in to show that I attached one of those garage broom hangers to the rear crossmember so that I could clip in the rod handles and kayak handles. Then the rods go over the front cross member.
