I have an 87 2 door XJ, and I'm about to make the doors removable. I'm also about to put the sound system out of my truck, which is now a dedicated tail rig, into the XJ. The system is 6.5" components powered by a 200 watt Kicker amp, and a 12" RE sub powered by a 700 watt amp. My only issue, is I don't know where I can put the components at. I want them up front, and not in the doors. The only thing I can think of is to build a box or sound bar to mount them in. Has anyone else put 6.5" speakers in the front of an XJ, somewhere other than the doors? Any pics?

 

i did. i used the kick panel where the hood latch is i just cut out a hole for the magnet side of the speaker and screwed the speaker in. it was over 2 years ago i don't think i have the picture anymore. you could see the screws but it still looked clean and it was 100% funcional.

I have seen the sound bar mounted on the ceiling directly behind the driver's seat.
